Joel is the Chief Strategy Officer at Communitech, where he was responsible for launching some of the largest open innovation programs in Canada such as Future of Cities, Future of Retail, Future of Health and Future of National Security. 

Working globally, Joel helped establish startup accelerators in different parts of the world, such as Hong Kong, Silicon Valley, London and the Vatican, and has co-authored four books on tech. He also founded Imaginet Ventures, one of Canada’s first enterprise-backed Venture Studios that focused on manufacturing, healthcare, transportation and tech. In 2018 Joel established HORIZONthree, an independent innovation think-tank to help drive organizational transformation through innovation.
