Petro Matiaszek
Petro Matiaszek is a lawyer with extended experience in international development, project management and communications. Since 1994, Petro has lived and worked in Ukraine. He served as a legal consultant and head of the Council of Advisors to the Parliament of Ukraine, Deputy Chief of Party at the USAID Rule of Law Consortium in Ukraine, Director General of the USAID Poland-America-Ukraine Cooperation Initiative and Chief of Party of the USAID Commercial Law Center Project. He also worked for a number of years at Baker McKenzie in Kyiv and as a consultant on legal investment issues for a range of public and private institutions. Petro served as special adviser to Ukraine’s Finance Minister and founded the Ukrainian Cabinet of Minister’s Office for Investment Promotion – UkraineInvest.
In 2018-2021, Petro was the Chief of Party at the USAID Transparency & Accountability in Public Administration & Services (TAPAS) Activity. Under his supervision, TAPAS supported Ukrainian citizens and the Government of Ukraine in the fight against corruption in key public administration functions and services and contributed to building Ukrainians’ trust in their government based on demonstrated transparency, accountability, and improved quality of services.
Since 2021, Petro has been leading the USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity (CCI), which strengthens Ukraine’s cyber resilience. In the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, CCI pivoted to ensure that the country’s critical infrastructure continues to operate smoothly and Ukrainians have stable access to vital digital services. Over the past four years, CCI has provided expert support, software, equipment, and other assistance to more than 80 government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, higher education institutions, and cyber entrepreneurs.
