Workshop: Cybersecurity – Capture the Flag by KICRF
For the first time in history, IT Arena will feature a cybersecurity workshop in the CTF (Capture The Flag) format. CTF is a cybersecurity competition where participants look for vulnerabilities in systems, solve tasks that simulate real attacks, and obtain “flags”—unique data that confirms the successful completion of a task.
Workshop participants will immerse themselves in a simulation of Threat Hunting against a real APT attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Teams need to analyze existing attack data and quickly find as many “flags” as possible, each of which brings the team closer to revealing the full picture of the attack. This helps allies and partners respond effectively and prevent similar attacks in the future.
Participants compete in groups of five*, honing their coordinated team efforts, and their results are displayed on a dashboard, where real-time changes in team rankings can be tracked.
Participation in the workshop requires prior experience and necessary technical and software equipment:
- Difficulty Level: Medium-Hard
- Desired Experience: Blue Team Analyst, Cybersecurity Engineer, Cyber Defense Analyst
- Technical Equipment: Notebook/laptop
- Software: OpenVPN, any browser for logs analysis
*Teams of 5 participants will be formed by the workshop organizers after registration closes.
The competition takes place on the platform UnitRange.com—an Ukrainian cyber range created by local specialists during the full-scale invasion.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with the Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum (KIRCF).
Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum (KICRF) is an annual leading event in the field of cybersecurity in Ukraine and Central Eastern Europe. The Forum’s platform attracts globally renowned leaders, influential politicians and government officials, business representatives, industry professionals, analytical centers, and media.
